Church Happenings - Week of 9/3/25
We are celebrating Glendale UMC's 40th Anniversary! This Sunday will be our first week of the celebration!
You are invited to help us celebrate the 40th anniversary of Glendale United Methodist Church with your time, talents, and treasures!
We hope you will spend some time each Sunday in September with us. Each Sunday you will have an opportunity to embrace your talents through a whole host of activities. You will also be blessed, in person or through video, by our past pastors.
We start the month with Bishop Lanette delivering a sermon on SEEDS OF FAITH as well as helping with the blessing of students and teachers. Pastor Brenda will share message of ROOTS & GROWTH as well as WEATHERING SEASONS. We conclude the month with Conference Superintendent WooJae’s words about the church being a HARVEST OF BLESSINGS.
Throughout the month of September, we are accepting donations from your treasures in ANY amount but believe $40, $400 or $4000 would be a fantastic way to bless Glendale’s ongoing ministries. Checks can be made out to Glendale United Methodist Church indicating 40th Anniversary in memo line.
September 7 - Bishop Lanette is preaching and Pastor Wayne Walther is providing benediction. Pastor Brenda and Bishop Lanette blessing backpacks for students and teachers. Join us after service for lunch including fried chicken, watermelon, salads, sides and dessert. Stay for the games, bounce house, minnow races, and watermelon seed spitting contest.
September 14 - Pastor Brenda preaching and Pastor Becky Jo is providing benediction. Communion will be served.
September 21 - Pastor Brenda is preaching and Pastor Dave Taylor is giving benediction.

Mission Statement:
Living Jesus’s radical love, welcoming all into life-changing faith and joyful service.
Values:
Here are the condensed versions of Glendale Church’s values:
Open-Hearted Welcome
Following Jesus’ example, we embrace all people exactly as they are- regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, economic status, ability or background. There’s a place for you at Glendale Church.
Authentic Exploration
We believe meaningful growth happens when we are honest about life’s challenges and questions. Your questions and doubts aren’t just tolerated; they’re respected as part of a healthy journey with Jesus.
Good Neighbors
Jesus taught us to love our neighbors as ourselves, a command we take seriously through our food distribution, school partnerships, and community garden. The church doesn’t just serve the neighborhood; the neighborhood helps shape and energize the church, too.
Adaptive Spirit
Like the early church, we believe in being responsive to our changing world with creativity and willingness to try new things. We honor meaningful traditions while remaining flexible enough to meet today’s needs in fresh ways.
Joy-Filled Connection
Life is serious enough! We believe church should add more laughter and light to your week. At Glendale, laughter and friendship aren’t just nice extras; they’re spiritual practices that reflect God’s joy in our midst.
