Sunday Sermon Series: "Why Did Jesus Have to Die?"
February 18-April 5, 2026
The cross stands at the heart of our faith-and it also raises some of the biggest questions we carry: Why did Jesus have to die? Did God need that suffering? How does something that happened so long ago change anything for us today?
If you've ever thought, "I believe in the crucifixion... I just don't fully understand it," you're not alone.
This Lent, we'll explore these questions together-not to arrive at easy answers, but to go deeper into the mystery and meaning of what happened on that cross.
(Inspired by Adam Hamilton's book of the same title)
Reminder: March 29, 2026 - Community Conversation

Sunday Sermon Series: "Why Did Jesus Have to Die?"
February 18-April 5, 2026
The cross stands at the heart of our faith-and it also raises some of the biggest questions we carry: Why did Jesus have to die? Did God need that suffering? How does something that happened so long ago change anything for us today?
If you've ever thought, "I believe in the crucifixion... I just don't fully understand it," you're not alone.
This Lent, we'll explore these questions together-not to arrive at easy answers, but to go deeper into the mystery and meaning of what happened on that cross.

Message from CORE Chair - Leadership Retreat Summary
This week our leadership team gathered for a focused retreat centered on alignment, clarity, and shared direction. Together, we reflected on congregational
feedback, shared insights from each area of leadership, and grounded our work in prayer and discernment.
The team worked through setting clear one-year goals for each leadership area, identifying 1–3 priorities for the next 90 days, and defining simple Ministry Pulse metrics to help us notice growth, engagement, and areas needing care. We also aligned on a shared meeting rhythm to support consistent, prayerful, and effective leadership moving forward.
The retreat concluded with a strong sense of unity, clarity around next steps, and gratitude for the work God is doing in and through our church. Leaders are leaving with shared focus and practical tools to guide the season ahead.

THRIVE’S Bible story is Love Is... from I Corinthians 13. God loves you so you can love everyone, too. This is what our elementary kids will be learning 7 January – 11 February!
Ask each other what you remember about: • Paul • Corinth • Love • God’s love • Faith, hope, love
Although this passage is often used at weddings, the original context was addressing multiple relationships in a community. The church at Corinth was having a terrible time getting along. They argued that some people were more important and had more gifts from God than others in their community. These verses helped to address this argument. It is still an important passage today!

Your Commitment Makes Ministry Possible
As we prepare for 2026, we’re asking everyone to prayerfully complete and return your Estimate of Giving card. These commitments aren’t just paperwork—they’re the foundation that allows us to live out our mission of “Living Jesus’s radical love, welcoming all into life-changing faith and joyful service.”
When you share your intended giving for the coming year, you help us:
Plan worship and ministry programs with confidence
Support our staff and maintain our facilities
Reach out to our community with compassion and purpose
Make faithful decisions about where God is calling us to grow
Your generosity—whatever the amount—matters deeply. Every gift fuels our shared ministry and makes our vision possible. Please bring your completed card to worship this Sunday or drop it by the church office.

A Child Is Born: A Beginner’s Guide To Nativity Stories
By Amy-Jill Levine
“Dive into the narratives of Isaac, Ishmael, Moses, and Samuel to reveal how they foreshadow and enrich the timeless Christmas story. Levine shows readers how Scripture's earlier birth stories anticipate the story of Jesus’s birth and how His birth resonates and gives new meaning to those earlier stories.“
We will be following along with Bishop Lanette on Mondays during Lent (12/1- 12/22) using this study. There will be a ZOOM portion with Bishop Lanette and other churches along with our own discussion.

Women's Bible Study - will also be engaging in this study on Wednesdays 11/19, 12/3, 12/10, & 12/17 at 9:30 am.
