Church Happenings - Week of 11/11/25
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our current Military and Veterans!
Glendale UMC has a challenge to pack 200 Emergency To-Go Bags.
We want to be able to collect 200 bags of packed food through the month of November. Every bag you pack brings hope and nourishment to a neighbor facing hardship. Together, we can reach our goal!
We’re Making a Difference Together! Thanks to your incredible generosity, we’ve already prepared 50 bags! Hidden Valley School received 10 bags, and Open Door received 40 bags to provide for families in need. Let’s keep this momentum going!
Items needed for Emergency To-Go Bags:
Purchase and pack one of each Core Five food items into a paper grocery bag. (Bring these items bagged up.)
*Please do not include notes inside bags when packing.
Core Five
Canned tuna/chicken
Canned fruit/vegetable
Canned black/pinto beans
Fast meal box (hamburger helper, mac & cheese, etc)
Bag of rice (1 lb) **Also please note if you can’t find a 1 lb bag of rice substitute with a 2 lbs bag**
Optional Add-Ons
Package of pasta (1 lb)
Jar of pasta sauce

Other Organizations providing relief during the shutdown per The Open Door
“It’s not just hunger relief organizations like us working to keep people fed during this shutdown. Folks everywhere are stepping up to help our community right now. We’ve compiled a list of these more unique options for free or lower cost ways to get food help this November.”

Women's Bible Study
Every Wednesday - 9:30 am
This week (11/12/25) we will finish our Adam Hamilton study of the Ten Commandments with chapter 10 “Keeping Up With The Joneses”. I hope those of you who are able will be there.
Our next study will be “A Child Is Born” by Amy Jill Levine. We will prepare for Advent by studying ancient birth stories in the Bible and reveal how they foreshadow and enrich the timeless Christmas story. Amy Jill is a professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies. As a Jew, she is able to highlight Jesus’s roots in Judaism and thereby understand his teachings more accurately and in depth. It is in the similar format as our previous study. This study was chosen by the UMC Bishop Lanette for an Advent study so there is also an opportunity to join discussions by Zoom on Monday nights Dec 1-22.
Our four dates for this study at our usual 9:30 start are:
November 19
December 3
December 10
December 17
Advent Study - Monday Evenings in December - beginning 12/1/25 - 6:45-8:15p
A Child Is Born: A Beginner’s Guide To Nativity Stories
By Amy-Jill Levine
We will be following along with Bishop Lanette on Mondays during Lent (12/1- 12/22) using this study.
There will be a ZOOM portion with Bishop Lanette and other churches along with our own discussion.
