Church Happenings - Week of 9/16/25

Saturday, September 20 - 8:00 AM - Noon Glendale Fall "Clean Up" Day

Think less 'work crew' and more 'family reunion with tools!' Here's the church's best-kept secret: Clean-up Day is actually Fun Day. It's our favorite morning to laugh, share stories, and oh yeah—get stuff done together.

Whether you can spare an hour or the whole morning, come discover why so many members mark this as a can't-miss event. Coffee and donuts provided, new friendships guaranteed, and yes—we'll accomplish some projects along the way:

Here are some tasks we aim to complete:

  • Deep clean the kitchen

  • Disinfect children's toys in the nursery

  • Trim trees and bushes, removing any dead branch or branch under 6 feet (Please bring a pole saw if you can volunteer one)

  • Patch potholes in the parking lot (Weather dependent - needs to be dry and the week calls for rain)

  • Repaint the garden sign (Paint and brushes will be provided)

  • Repair the latch on the Little Library

  • Replace outdoor light bulbs

  • Replace smoke and CO detectors as needed

  • Replace worn doorstops

  • Clean windows (inside and outside)

We will also be setting up activities for the Sunday, including the after-service obstacle course. Thank you, and we hope to see everyone there!

We are celebrating Glendale UMC's  40th Anniversary!

You are invited to help us celebrate the 40th anniversary of Glendale United Methodist Church with your time, talents and treasures!
We hope you will spend some time each Sunday in September with us.

Sunday, September 21, Week 3 of our month-long celebration

Help us celebrate by recognizing and honoring Glendale's Charter Members—the visionary founding families who planted the seeds of our beloved community four decades ago.

Pastor Brenda will lead us in worship as we celebrate these cornerstones of our church family. Together, we'll reflect on our history as a faith community—considering the storms and winters we've weathered together—the winding paths and obstacles we've navigated. We will draw from God's strength and tenderness for the challenging seasons we face now, both personally and as a community. In remembering how far we've come, we find hope for where we're going.

After worship, join us for:

  • Fellowship treats for every taste—from classic comfort favorites like hot chocolate and donuts to fresh fruit and other options

  • A special guided labyrinth walk—experience this ancient practice of meditation and prayer with gentle guidance through each turn

  • NEW! The inaugural Glendale Obstacle Course—designed specifically for adults! Come be part of this hilarious first-time adventure (trust us, you'll want bragging rights on accomplishing this one!)

  • Most importantly—time to connect, share stories, and strengthen the bonds that have sustained us for four decades

Come discover why Glendale has thrived for 40 years: it's always been about the people.

WEEK 4: September 28, Week 4 - Conference Superintendent WooJae will lead worship and Pastor Lynda Ellis will give benediction.

Volunteers will be needed each week to help in the kitchen during fellowship and to supervise activities. Please inform the office if you are interested in volunteering. For additional details, follow this link.

*Throughout the month of September, we are accepting donations from your treasures in ANY amount but believe $40, $400 or $4000 would be a fantastic way to bless Glendale’s ongoing ministries. Checks can be made out to Glendale United Methodist Church indicating 40th Anniversary in memo line.

Sunday Morning Prayer Team

"Make Me A Channel of Your Peace"

Join us every Sunday from 9:15-9:30 AM in the sanctuary for prayer before worship. Together, we'll pray for our world, our nation, our community, and each other. In times like these, prayer matters—and praying together matters even more.
